In 1977, fifteen families were transferred from the slopes at Niemeyer Avenue to the Antares Project, built by the State Company for Housing (CEHAB) on the orders of Governor Faria Lima, at the request of Mayor Marcos Tamoyo. The alleged reason was that there were several problems in the area related to slope stabilization which were detected by the Geotechnical Department of the Municipal Bureau of Public Works of Rio de Janeiro City. This claim was later disputed by the director of that Department and the removal of the families was halted after the fifteen first families had been transferred.
