The party is held every year on the first Sunday of May, in the parish of São Francisco de Paula, in Barra da Tijuca. Throughout the day, part of the Italian community made up of newsmen gathers around attractions and typical Calabrian foods. The party ends with a procession that leaves the church towards Barra da Tijuca beach where a fireworks display takes place.
