Bloco do Barbas was founded in 1985 by friends who frequent the Barbas restaurant in Botafogo. Nelson Rodrigues Filho, one of the owners of the restaurant, was president of the Bloco for many years. The Bloco parades on Carnival Saturday at Rua Arnaldo Quintela, in Botafogo. One of its trademarks is a water truck that accompanies the entire route bathing the revelers.
