Rigoberta Menchú (center), 1992 Nobel Peace Prize winner at the Latin American and Caribbean Tent, one of the five regional tents at the NGO Forum. The other regions to have tents  were: Africa, Arab World, Asia-Pacific, and Europe-North America.

The NGO Forum was held in the city of Huairou from 30th August to 8th September, 1995 and brought together about 30,000 people, of which 554 Brazilian women, the largest delegation from Latin America.
